dannparks Unregistered	Posted Tuesday, November 3, 2009 @ 11:48 AM This new throttle body style carb atomizes the fuel through lots of tiny holes in a tube in the throat, like an Ellison. It also seems to have a more sophisticated metering regulator than the Aerocarb. Like the Ellison, it probably requires a fuel pump for optimum performance. jb92563 Unregistered	Posted Tuesday, November 3, 2009 @ 04:28 PM Very interesting. Sounds like they solved a few of the Aerocarb shortcommings....built a better mousetrap. Better atomization, consistent pressure and a fuel pump to prrevent vapor lock and not leaky. Plus, they don't pretend to ignorre the potential icing problems and require carb heat. I'd be interested in hearing what VW folks say who have tried it out. This all seems like overkill for a RF4D unless doing aerobatics. Perhaps Aerocarb will improve theirs by doing something similar with the atomization and eliminating their other shortcommings. In all fairness though after reading through the Aerocarb installation and tuning instructions last night, I'll bet I can reconfigure mine to be what they recommended and have a lot of those problems disappear. Bob Grimstead Unregistered	Posted Wednesday, November 4, 2009 @ 12:13 PM Hi Guys, I know Rotec; they are an Australian company, based near Melbourne, and make a great new 100-150 horsepower radial engine. Although it did have development problems early in its life, I hear it is now very reliable and powerful for its weight. As a journalist, I've been to their (small) factory and seen their machining and assembly, which is all very good. They used to use Bing carburettors, but maybe there's now a problem with supply, or they needed an aerobatic fuel supply. Tim K (flyingKruger) lives comparatively nearby (I'm 1,500 miles away). Maybe he'll go and visit some time to find out more. Yours, Bob
