More Part Numbers

For those of you who would like to replace their scuzzy old Camloc fasters with shiny new ones, you should be able to read the part-number suffix on the head of the fastener as a single digit.

My digit is 6, so the full part number is a 4002-6 stud.
This fits into a 4002-0 grommet, held in place by an R4T retaining ring.

The lower cowl and firewall have 244-16 receptacles.

I have found that Eugenio's thinner cowlings fit better with 4002-5 studs.

The only other tool you will need is the Camloc stud pliers 4P3 ($16-95 at Aircraft Spruce today). Those make fitting and removing the studs a cinch.

For cutting the various holes I used 1/8-inch drill bits for the recaptacle rivets and starter holes for all the other components, plus Irwin Unibits No 1 & No 3 for all the other holes.

Good luck.

Yours, Bob
