Hi Folks,

I have several items for sale, plus some other aviation stuff.
Times is hard, so I need to shed some spares…

I have a metal McCauley IA90/CF 70x43 fixed-pitch propeller for a Continental C-85 engine. This is in as-new condition. It was painted from new in top quality two-pack (actually British Airways 747 wheel paint) and has never been stripped or overhauled.

Also I have an aluminium nose-bowl or front cowl for any Continental-engined lightplane. It was originally on my Champ and although it fitted fine, it wasn’t actually the correct part.

Offers?

Yours, Bob

Hi Bob

I might be interested in the Hoffmann prop. I sent you a pm but no reply. I guess that means the booty is gone.

Greetings
Lutz

Hi Lutz,

No, it only means I have been having problems with my internet access, although I did not recieve a PM.

Also, I was flying with that propeller yesterday.

I assume you mean the RF3/4 Hoffmann prop, not the RF5 prop?

It is still for sale.

They cost over 2,000 euros new, so I was hoping for around 1,000 euros.

What do you think?

Yours, Bob

Splendid Bob-
just listing objects for sale is somewhat boring, but what an extraordinary idea with an online-internet Haggle!!! You can bash each other with arguments and the rest of us can cheer you on!

Lutz, your next line would be something like "-What- 1000 Euros! Are you trying to rob me and my kids/wife/dog/Aeroplane of all our wordly possessions?" or a similar balanced reply. Check out :

for more suitable quotes...

May the 4´s be with you/ Jörgen

HOLY COW, I just wanted the prop, not the engine as well (hope that works for Jörgen;-) ) - straight off the top of my head without checking out the link!

On a more serious note I just spoke with MT and they quoted around €1400 for a new one. Hoffmann, surprisingly, is quite a bit more expensive.

We are busy checking out the original prop, and once I know what is going on there, I will get back to you should you still have it available. I figured if it wasn't to expensive I would maybe get it as a possible second, in case there is a problem with my original. Having said that, €1000 is a tad more than I was thinking of (and more than I can pinch out of the wife's cookie jar, without being caught )

Grüße
Lutz

That's interesting Lutz,

I had not realised that MT quoted a lower price.

There is a British RF3 syndicate which has also expressed interest in my prop, but they have not yet made me an offer.

If you think 1,000 euros is too expensive, what do you think would be a reasonable price?
(but not in cookies, please)

Okay Donald, Here you are,

The prop's original sticker says:

Gerate Nr: L-32. 110/1
Baumuster: HO 11 E-133 S 70 L
Werk Nr: 55649
Prufung: 56724-1
Datum 18.1.83

I should really be asking more money, because this is a valuable historic artefact.
It was on the Skyhawks aeroplanes, and has since been on both RedHawks aeroplanes, so it should really be adorning somebody's wall in a glass case.

It is obviously no longer in perfect, mint conition, but it is quite serviceable.

As you can see, there are inevitably some chips and scratches, mostly along and near the leading-edge, but that's only to be expected.

It is nicely in balance.

As I said previously, Matt was running with it all last winter, and more recently I have been flying with it.

However, I now need the money for some upgrading of WGN, so I have to sell it.

If I can find it, the prop comes with a photocopy of the Hoffmann Propeller Owners Handbook.

What am I offered?

Yours, Bob

Hi Bob

Excuse the tardy reply, but I've been out and about and busy and don't always remember to check in. I certainly don't have the resources to finance historical artifacts, and as much as I would like some wall art, I rather need a flying prop .

Greetings
Lutz

Hi again Lutz,

No problem.

You were the first person to express interest in this prop, so what would you be prepared to pay for it?

Yours, Bob

Hi again Lutz,

Sorry, but that propeller went very quickly.

Good luck with getting a replacement.
