Hello,

Here is a picture of a nice fitting K&N # RU 3460 filter for the RF3/RF4. If you want one let me know the cost is $30.

Thanks Steve (N505SE) for the part number.

Hi Guys,

Armed with a print-out of this post, yesterday I marched into my local Repco Car Parts and asked for a RU 3460 K&N air filter for HDO as part of her 40th birthday tidy-up.

Would you believe it? They say that is a superseeded part number, and there is no easy way of getting the new, correct part number.

The guy was friendly and helpful, but said he was just unable to help me.

Another frustration is that WGN has a different K & N filter -- it is conical, and slightly angled, and also fits well within those tight cowlings. Unfortunately K & N didn't have the sense to stamp or emboss the part number on it, so I can't get one of those either.

Cany anybody out there help me with an up-to-date or alternative part number?

Thanks, Bob

Hi Guys,

At last I've had time to do a little research.

I think the K&N filter on WGN (the red one) is a RC-1290 because it has a ten-degree offset.

Product Style: Round Tapered Universal Air Filter
Base Outside Diameter: 3 in (76 mm)
Flange Angle: 10 degrees
Flange Inside Diameter: 1.875 in (48 mm)
Flange Length: 1 in (25 mm)
Flange Type: Angled
Height: 3.688 in (94 mm)
Top Outside Diameter: 2 in (51 mm)
Top Style: Metal
Top Material/Finish: Chrome
Flanges: 1
Inner Wire: No
Weight: 0.5 lb (0.2 kg)
Product Box Length: 4.63 in (117 mm)
Product Box Width: 4.63 in (117 mm)
Product Box Height: 4.25 in (108 mm)

I will try to get one and fit it to HDO (the blue one)

Would you believe, with all the photos I have of the red one, I don't have a photo of that filter, but it fits well intothe cowling, and the engine runs lean, so it isn't obstructing the air intake!

Yours, Bob

This is a bit of a necropost but may be of interest to Bob. I have just placed and order with K&N UK for a RU 3460 filter and have today received an email confirming dispatch. It's not a superceded part number.
