Hi All

I am new to this forum and also new to Fourniers. I can't believe that I, an aviation nut since I can remember, was completely ignorant of Fourniers until quite recently after nearly 10 years of flying. I recently acquired a Fournier RF4D, ZS-UEG, serial number 4111 and I have never been happier. The Fournier did not have such great luck since it was brought into South Africa. It had couple of wheels up landings and long periods of non-flying. The last incident was in early 2013 when someone broke into the hangar and used an angle grinder to cut through the propeller bolts in order to steal the propeller (I know....very puzzling?!?). Anyway she was fitted with a new propeller, but has never flown since until I got her.

Now, after several months of work she is finally back in the air (first flight on 27 April 2015) and I am enjoying every second of it. Still needs a bit of work and loving touches here and there. The most noticeable being the missing spinner which I am having made.

Anyway, i will post a more detailed history of ZS-UEG in the appropriate section, but for now here are a few photos. By the way the engine is VW 1834cc due to our hot&high conditions. Hangared at Orient Airfield (FAOI), NW of Johannesburg, South Africa. (Help: how do i post pictures from my PC???)

Here is the link for the Orient thread at our local aviation forum with lots of photos: http://www.avcom.co.za/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=33363&start=135

Hi Stojan,

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the wonderful, economic and enjoyable world of Fourniers.

It is very interesting that you are yet another owner of both an RF4D and a Zlin. There are so many similarities that you are far from alone in your tastes.

I knew Murray Cohoe who used to run the UEH synducate, and I used to correspond with Peter Goldin who owned UEZ and Mike Butow who flew UEM until their sad deaths.

I wish you many happy hours of Fournier flying, and look forward to seeing UEG's details on the Individual Fournier History thread.

For posting photos, use the Search facility with 'posting photos' and a checklist should pop up. Any problems, mention it here.

Yours, Bob

Thanks Bob. As you can imagine i am well pleased to be one of the "Fourniecators". What a truly wonderful aircraft.

As far as my taste goes i would love to add a C140 (in polished silver with a red stripe) and a Navion to my hangar, but that will have to wait a while as my wife is very pregnant at the moment, so it is not a great time to buy more aircraft.

There are three RF4D's at Orient (UEG, UEH and UEL), one at Springs and another one at Ficksburg. The three at Orient fly regularly and to my knowledge the other two also, with the one at Springs being recently refurbished. As you mentioned one of the gentlemen perished in the sixth RF4D about 10 years ago at Orient. I did not know them but am friends with the people who did so i am familiar with their stories.

Also thanks for the checklist regarding the photos. I will post some on Monday.

I will fly UEG on Sunday in formo with UEH. I will try to take some more photos (maybe it is time i finally get a gopro haha).

Looking forward to communicating much more in future.

Regards

Stojan
