Prop wanted. I am in process of an electric propulsion experiment for my RF5B, 99814. The electric motor system will soon be ready for ground test, firewall forward to be mounted on a test vehicle complete with facsimile cowling, to determine dynamic loads, motor/battery cooling etc. I would like to borrow, or perhaps buy a prop, fixed pitch or..., for the ground test which fits my Limbach/Hoffman flange (6 x 7/16' holes centered on 80mm circle)

Ultimately, presuming the ground runs are a success, I will use my Hoffman 3 position for flight tests, but I'd like to be able to fly the RF5 in the meantime.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks, Douglas

Hi Douglas,

I have a stock Hoffman RF4 prop for the Rectimo hub that you are welcome to use if it will fit. Might be a bit small to simulate the 5, though. (I'm in Battle Ground, WA)

I'm also fascinated with your electric conversion project. I've always thought that the RF's (especially the 4) would be a good conversion candidate since they have a relatively heavy engine and fuel weight available (for motor, batteries, and controller) and an efficient airframe. The Chinese have a nice looking propulsion package, but pricey. More info (please start a thread in the Modifications section) would be appreciated by all.

Thanks, Dann. My prop is 59" (4' 11" which I think is the same as the stock 4 prop. I've made a new prop shaft and flange for the electric drive which fits the Hoffman 3 position, so the bolt pattern for any ground test prop will need to be the same... 6 x 7/16th on 80mm circle, as well as the locating protrusion. Your is a very generous offer. Thanks. I'd like to have a chat about this. Could you give me a call at your convenience: 360-298-0037, or let me know what would be a good time to call you.
