Steve Beaver's comments about the power draw of the typical battery relay in another thread got me searching for alternatives -- and I found this:

A solid-state contactor/relay designed for (experimental) aircraft from a small startup company called Ztron Labs right up the road from me in Everett WA. http://www.ztronlabs.com/products.php

It will take 50 Amps, but only uses 1.7 mA when on.

Wow. I really like the look of that Dan.

I have been using the LUN2285 relay, used in many European aircraft, and equipped with an operating coil, and a much smaller holding coil, but I like this even better.
