Took my daughter-in-law for an open cockpit ride on a cool, grey, July day in the PNW. Flew over a cruise ship that, in a few hours, she'd leave on a trip to Alaska with my son and other relatives. Some nice shots of local scenery. Relatively low clouds hide most of the mountains--but nice views of Puget Sound. Looks like a typical winter flying day for this area--but in July. 3 minutes.

Great video, James! I agreee the wx does not exactly look like summer, but it sure looks dramatic. You've got a seriously talented daughter-in-law. I hope she enjoyed the flight, I surely enjoyed her music.

Took the GoPro on the headband-mount for a 45 min soaring flight in the 4 myself yesterday. Nice as a "memory enhancer", but I doubt I'll post it. I didn't realize I have my head on a swivel like that, it made me airsick just to watch the clip

May the 4's be with you/ Jörgen

Another flight showing some of the nice scenery in the Pacific Northwest.

This time, the passenger was a young woman from Taiwan. Interesting situation where she had so many questions and talked so much that we were more than an hour longer than expected preparing to fly and a lunch stop took an unusually long time as well. This posed no problem for the flight itself, but put us into the warmth and turbulence of the afternoon. For the return leg, we had to get on the ground as quickly as possible as the warmth and bouncing did not agree with her stomach. She did not get sick, but another 15 minutes in the air might have had a different outcome. Not feeling well is not what I want people remembering about their flights. Something to manage better.

This video shows more of Puget Sound. We flew into Arlington Airport for lunch. You can see the local glider club ops as we fly out.

This one shows some of the Cascade Mountains, just to the east of the field I fly from.

I particularly enjoyed the second one of the Cascade mountains. Quite serene.
As a matter of interest how are you mounting the camera? I presume it's on the wingtip like the others looking inboard, but suction cup? Screwed fitting?

My first GoPro blew off the wingtip, using the factory mounting. A somewhat expensive learning experience. GoPro was kind enough to send me an extra mount, with the idea that a safety line could be run from the camera to the second mount. I didn't want a camera flapping about damaging a wing or getting caught in a control surface.

So, I got a "Fat Gecko" camera mount with dual suction cups.

For example:

I have only mounted it on the canopy or on surfaces where there is plywood behind the cloth. Overall, have had reasonable success at the wing tips, under the wing, on the fuselage, vertical stabilizer, etc. Got too much vibration from the canopy to use any of the footage. Vibration is the biggest issue. The GoPro tends to have modest contrast. So, I tend to slightly increase the contrast for most videos I make.
