Just wondering who you US based Fournier pilots use for your liability/hull insurance? I went with AOPA last time, but thought I might shop around went it comes time to renew. Liability only ran $325 (1M coverage).

I went through the SSA program. I originally tried AOPA and found them unwilling to insure an experimental. Sounds like that has changed.

Hi guys,

Here's what I found out today. Both AOPA and SSA apparently offer their insurance through Costello. I couldn't get a quote through SSA because I'm already insured with Costello through AOPA.

Reason given was: "When we approached the SSA group insurance program for a quote on your behalf, we found that you hold coverage now, on an individual policy, through the same insurance company that provides the SSA group program. Due to this, we are momentarily unable to obtain a quote for you under the SSA program."

So my conclusion is the premiums are likely to be the same between AOPA and SSA although there maybe discounts that could change things slightly.

I use Costello as well which will give you a $40 discount if you are an AOPA member as well.

AOPA membership is $40 so you can end up effectively getting free AOPA membership when insuring though Costello.

My policy doesn't say how much the SSA reduces the cost, but similar to Collin:
- $198 for liability, $1010 for $50k hull. (Obviously through Costello.)
