OK, it’s a long way out, but with AirVenture/Oshkosh going on this week, I was wondering if there might be interest in trying to organize a reunion of any and all Fournier models at Airventure 2014 (2013 may be too soon). This could be as simple as just an invitation to show up and park close to each other, or it could be a bigger project involving (maybe) promotion through the EAA, creation of a forum or two, and even the possibility of bringing Rene out, if he is interested and able. Maybe even some planes (different models) coming over from Europe.
I cannot find any recent history of any presentation on Fourniers at Oshkosh and it would be wonderful if they (and Rene) could get some deserved recognition on this side of the pond. (Does anyone know of past Fournier presentations at Oshkosh?)
EAA magazines have done recent, favorable articles on RF3-4’s – so there is interest -- but I think there is a larger story on all Fourniers that is unknown in the US, and EAA might be interested in assisting us (some) in trying to tell it.
I’m throwing out 2014, because I know I will need 2013 to get me and my ship ready for the trip (but if there is enough interest, it could be moved up). It would also likely require support ships/vehicles, etc. and considerable organization. A good turnout at Minden 2013 could be a good warm up.
Anyway, we (in the US) are keepers of a rare and unique legacy; it would be great to partner with the Fournier world and do something special to honor these birds.
Any interest?
