Must be a record, 3 enquiries within 20 minutes, 5 within 2 hours, and subject to survey, it looks like this little machine is off to Belgium...

As a British RF3 owner I'm sad to hear of its impending emigration but on the other hand, as a British RF3 owner, I'm delighted to read that there is such lively interest in the type. I hope he got his price. G-BHLU, is it?

Hello Donald, it is indeed, I was very surprised at the level of interest I got at this price and the gentleman concerned does not seem to have a wish to haggle with the price. Obviously it isn't sold until money has changed hands, however we are making arrangements for his visit to view the aircraft and then we will most probably be saying goodbye to it.

I too don't like to see aircraft leave the country, however there has been no interest from the UK since I posted it Friday, seems the European market is much more buoyant.

We are hoping for him to be able to visit in the next week or so, will advise if and when it will leave our shores :-(

Perhaps the Europeans better appreciate the Fournier's virtues or perhaps we Brits are too impoverished these days from bailing out bankers. It'll be sad to have it leave these shores and the G registry. That'll leave just 8 of us but I'm sure it'll go to a good home.

Hi,
interesting to hear about the interest!?! I don't think Fourniers will be less interesting to the market as petrol gets increasingly expensive. I wish you a prosperous shop, Tony and congrats to your choice of favourite type of aircraft to work with(?).

May the 4's be with you/ Jörgen

Thank you Jorgen - they are lovely aeroplanes, but so was the L4!

We've a total of 4 Fourniers at work at the moment, which must be the most in a single place in the world at the moment (complete guess), and one regular visitor has a share in a local RF5 which the synidcate are conducting work on at their home airfield. It is a tough time here though, have been through some big knock backs this last 10 months, mainly caused by a disgrunteld ex-employee and a few people not paying their dues, which is making everything quite challenging. The weather most certainly hasn't helped either, but you never know what is around the corner...

Sorry to hear you're going through tough times, Tony. I think it's Henry Ford who are credited of saying that "-When everything is going against you, remember that Aeroplanes take off and land against the wind!"

I haven't found the "proper" military identity of former L-4H "SE-AWL" yet, but I've had the privilege of getting aquainted with WW2 ETO L-4 veteran Joe Gordon and boy the stories he can tell! My favourite quote is his answer to my question: "-You must have been very brave, Joe." "-Brave??? I was twenty- I didn't know any better!"

May the 4s be with you/ Jörgen

You may all be interested to know that, despite Tiny Hoskins's claim, this RF3 was never actually sold.

Like my RF4D, this RF3 was completely stripped and dismantled by Tony Hoskins when Andrew Bell only took it to him (on my Forum recommendation, I am acutely embarrassed to admit) for some simple remedial work.

At the time Hoskins advertised it here and elsewhere, Andrew tells me it was not only unfinished, but, again like mine, and despite Andrew having paid him, and despite that positive-sounding advert, Hoskins had barely started the work. So the claim that it had had 'a complete nut and bolt restoration in and out, with new fabric and paint' was, like other things Hoskins has said, a lie!

Hoskins's employee Pat Willis tells me he has worked virtually non stop to try and rectify the situation and clear up the workshop mess after they moved suddenly from their former Southwater premises, where the landlord, John Ford tells me Hoskins left owing £9,000 in unpaid rent, electricity, rates and clearing-up costs.

And Pat has done this out of the goodness of his heart, despite having only had sporadic part-payments of his wages since 1st July, which happened to be the day a Bankruptcy petition was finally served against Hoskins in the Brighton County Court. I don't know how anybody can be so heartless and uncaring as to keep making his long-term employee work, with promises of money to come, in the certain knowledge that after the declaration of Bankruptcy, he'll never have to pay him. Pat is not a wealthy guy, just an ordinary working man. He told me today he is now owed more than three thousand pounds. That's nearly ten weeks pay!

Incidentally, I have documentary evidence that, at the time of that petition, there were no fewer than five Equitable Charges (Court Orders) outstanding against Hoskins's house which, when I went to inspect it, looked as though it had been abandoned for many months, with untouched tall grass and weeds growing up over the doorstep, all the curtains (drapes) drawn closed, and a goodly layer of dust over everything.

The petitioning solicitor told me that Hoskins didn't turn up to his first scheduled Bankruptcy hearing on 27th August 'because he didn't feel very well'.
At the adjourned hearing on 17th September enough information had been provided to that solicitor (including the fact that Hoskins had obtained tickets to Australia for October) that he could be declared bankrupt whether or not he appeared.
Hoskins was finally declared Bankrupt shortly before 11am that morning (six weeks ago now).

Just as frustrated as I have also been for the past year, Andrew Bell finally managed to get his aeroplane out of Hoskins's workshop and clutches a couple of weeks ago. He's lost all his money, of course, and his aeroplane is completely stripped and dismantled, with several important bits missing, including that magneto Hoskins claimed had been overhauled but has disappeared, and the Hercules propeller Hoskins ordered, Rupert Wasey at Hercules made, but Hoskins never collected or paid for; but at least Andrew now has the main airframe in his posession.

When I spoke to him earlier today, Andrew still intends to finish his aeroplane, and it will eventually be for sale, but if there are any Fournier enthusiasts in the Nottingham area who might be able to help him in any way, I'm sure he would be very grateful of some assistance.

I do not yet have my Fournier back. Last time I saw it, it was in a very sad state, again with all the airframe completely stripped to bare wood, with many major components missing, including the engine, the ailerons, tailplane, canopy, elevators, entire main landing gear plus new fork, complete tailwheel assembly and all the engine mounts, cowling fastener receptacles, irreplaceable nuts, bolts and other hardware, fuel filter and a bunch of other stuff.

In my absence in Australia to care for my seriously sick wife, Hoskins also returned for a cash refund all the expensive Polyfiber fabric, tapes and Aerothane paint I had paid for and collected from Tony Young at Henstridge.

If you see Hoskins or anybody else offering any of these things for sale, beware, they are stolen goods, and I shall pursue anybody found with them in their posession with the full vigour of the law.

Oh, and by the way, the Trustee In Bankruptcy tells me that Hoskins has now gone 'on holiday' to Australia, where his sister and cousin live. I would frankly be surprised ever to see him return to face up to his responsibilities here in Britain.

As I posted recently, I could not now possibly recommend Tony Hoskins for anything, particularly anything involving aeroplanes, gliders or money.

Finally, I would like to thank all of you who realised something was amiss, and who have provided not only moral support, but practical assistance. Foremost among those is Donald McNicholl, who has helped me in very many ways during these many long, dark, depressing months, and in particular by a steady stream of supportive e-mails. Thank you Donald, and all you others. You know who you are.

Yours, Bob

Bob's journalism skills are really showing through in these last two posts, highly selective information and an awful lot of embellishment of the actual truth. I really look forward to enlightening all on here of your level of involvement and responsibility for the current circumstances in the fullness of time. I feel sorry for all those here who have been deceived by you as I and the others who were once your friends have been.

Dear forum readers,

It is regrettable that Bob and Tony find themselves in a dispute over services expected, but I do not believe this form is the right place for them to air their grievances. I have written to both Bob and Tony to ask that they avoid any forum posts that may be seen as personal or disrespectful.

Thank you Steve for a very sensible and earnest post. I am sad to hear that fellow Fournier pilots are struggling, but I believe Fournier flying has the potential to eventually cheer everyone up.

I'm hoping to have time to update the commuter thread soon but with less pictures since someone nicked my only partially backed-up laptop and GoPro this summer. Which incidentally gives me an opportunity to buy new models of both!!

As the chinese say: "-When the winds of change blow some people build walls, other build windmills..."

May the 4s be with you/ Jörgen
