I'm just checking on the length of the RF4D rudder springs. Someone had begun modifying my peddles to move them 2" forward, and I'm not sure if the springs have been cut. My springs are 8 1/2" (21 cm) from outside hook to outside hook. They look like they have been cut and bent specifically for the aircraft -- I don't know if they are original. Does anyone have their springs out and can measure them? Thanks.

I am moving the peddles forward, so unless the springs have been shortened, I will need to cut them and bend new hooks.

Dann,
are you talking about the outside, aft springs between the rudder and tailwheel? There are some pictures in the thread "Groovy Horns":

http://sbeaver.com/cgi-bin/fournier/cutecast.pl?session=6hMZbVC50ZFvR11ASukGqhbjao&forum=11&thread=504

As you can see the rudder cable is separate from the springs connecting the rudder with the tailwheel. My springs are from Aircraft Spruce and the length can be adjusted with a chain or similar.

May the 4's be with you/ Jörgen

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm talking about the springs from the rudder peddles to the firewall inside the front of the fuselage. Much more difficult to see (or measure).
