Red Bull Air Racing
I cannot believe it is allowed it is totally irresponsible. I used to feel the same about motor cycle TT races but this is worse.
Imagine how bad it could get and it will. No you have not got the right to kill yourself and risk taking others with you just to please promoters making a fast buck. If someone invented hand grenade juggling with the pins out some fool would do it. Ive got more bottle than most but this is daft. What's up with proper aerobatics like what the planes are designed for in the first place?
Where are all these air safety people?
Bring back hanging I say!

You're entitled to your opinion Paul, but I would rather read the opinions of folk who have taken the time and trouble to properly inform themselves first.

I am slightly familiar with Red Bull Air Racing, the complex and extensive safety precautions they take, and the skill of the pilots and engineers involved. These are all remarkable.

You will be aware that there have been RBAR accidents, both minor and major.
You may also be aware that there has not been so much as a broken finger sustained in the worst of these accidents, in which the aircraft was written off.

Very importantly to us pilots, Red Bull have brought flying to the world's TV screens, and enthused a whole generation of youngsters, who might otherwise have participated in some other sport.
To do this they have pumped millions of dollars into the sport.

I loathe their drink, but I applaud their marketing, and I am wholly supportive of their race program.

I sincerely believe that we should all be very grateful to Red Bull and its part-owner, PPL-holder and aviation enthusiast, Dietrich Mateschitz.

Yours, Bob

I fully agree with Bob, (i work 100 yds from Hangar 7) and see the guys on occasions. They are pilots like all the rest of us. Maybe we should consider banning Formula 1 ?? But nah its all good fun. Maybe there is jealosy cos a RF cant do what these guys do with their sooped up chippies.
