You're entitled to your opinion Paul, but I would rather read the opinions of folk who have taken the time and trouble to properly inform themselves first.
I am slightly familiar with Red Bull Air Racing, the complex and extensive safety precautions they take, and the skill of the pilots and engineers involved. These are all remarkable.
You will be aware that there have been RBAR accidents, both minor and major.
You may also be aware that there has not been so much as a broken finger sustained in the worst of these accidents, in which the aircraft was written off.
Very importantly to us pilots, Red Bull have brought flying to the world's TV screens, and enthused a whole generation of youngsters, who might otherwise have participated in some other sport.
To do this they have pumped millions of dollars into the sport.
I loathe their drink, but I applaud their marketing, and I am wholly supportive of their race program.
I sincerely believe that we should all be very grateful to Red Bull and its part-owner, PPL-holder and aviation enthusiast, Dietrich Mateschitz.
Yours, Bob
