Hello again Fellow Fournier enthusiasts.

I guess I was probably the first Fournier pilot to fly this year — on 1st January as usual.

And here is a spectator's view...

Then there was a pause of a few weeks while I re-covered the fuselage with Oratex (see separate thread) before flying a couple of hundred miles north for a country display near Geraldton...

As you can see, it was a bit hot, dry, windy and dusty up there

but it was a delightful weekend with great pilots and spectators, and the skies were blue.

All in all it was an unforgettable weekend, made possible by our hero René and his wonderful little aeroplane.

I look forward to seeing the 2017 flying exploits of some of our other members.

Yours, Bob

Some more 2017 Fournier flying, this time in Britain.

Let's hope the weather is a little better this summer.

Well, some South African guys have been flying their Fourniers this year, even if they don't post on here!

This photo, illustrating an excellent air test article, appeared in the May edition of SA Flyer.

Yes, I am back!!!
These are the RF4s based at Magalies Gliding Club west of Johannesburg - one of the larger gliding clubs in RSA.
They visited our home club at Springs to the east of Johannesburg the other week when we have our annual flyin with FREE breakfast for all.
We served in excess of 160 full English to a motley bunch of pilots.
I am happy to report that after a long pregnancy our beloved RF4 ZS-UEZ took to the skies on her test flight last Saturday.
News and pics to follow.

It's great to see you back John, and even better news to hear that UEZ is flying again.

We really look forward to seeing those pictures.

We cannot have too many of these wonderful old aeroplanes flying!

I hope you really enjoy it now for many years.

We had some fairly good weather in Britain's late summer, so I swapped Wagon's normal canopy for its open-cockpit 'torpedo' and flew to the wet country, past Salisbury Cathedral.

I do love flying the RF4 open-cockpit, and I enjoy flying aerobatics even more. It gives such a great feeling of immediacy and being in touch with the whole world.

The group of buildings between the cathedral and the leading edge of the wing is "Bishop Wordsworth Grammar School" - where I spent severn years doodling Sopwiths instead of paying attention.

Well, well, well Steve, what a magnificent coincidence.

I'm so glad I caught your former school, by the greatest of good luck, in my photo.

Meanwhile, as it turned out, this late November flight was my last of the year: four spins with tufts.

Here are the fin-cam clips:

Surely somebody else in the world must have done some Fournier flying in 2017 and could at least post an account, if not photos?

Happy Fournicating in 2018, Bob

Hey again Steve,

I don't know if this is helpful, but it's the photo I took immediately before that other one.

As you can see, the actual weather wasn't anything like as good as the forecast, but althpugh it was chilly, I still enjoyed flying open-cockpit.

How's the re-cover going?

Thanks Bob. Recovering is at a standstill because the temperature is too low. ( -20C ! )

Your picture of the old school prompted me to visit the school website where I learned that I was at school with Lord Voldemort! In fact it looks like he (well Ralph Fiennes) was a student in the lower school at a time I was a prefect in the upper!

This could explain a lot.

Well, well well Steve.

How great that you were able to re-visit your Alma Mater on-line.

Of course, winter has come with a vengeance in the N Hemisphere.
I've had to erect a plastic tent within my garage to be able to work on my project.
I can get the temp up to 15°C but not much higher, so no glueing, but I am able to four hours of other small jobs daily.

Meanwhile I made a very interesting but frustrating Fournier flight last week.
More to come, Bob

How extraordinary Steve,
you actually had a chance to stop Lord Voldemort in his tracks? We had a very invigorating session at the Harry Potter-land at the Universal Studios in Florida a week ago were these young wizard apprentecies learned their spells and I bet the force of their combined wands would have stopped him in his tracks!! Sofi and cousins August and Lillian sends their Best and cast their spells for uninhibited Fournieristics for everyone during 2018!!

May the 4's be with you/ Jörgen

Jorgen,

The children might enjoy seeing our (Hogwarts inspired) family dogs: Albus Dumbledog, to whom my daughter Lara belongs:

Albus is a Sheepdog/Poodle mix known as a Sheep-a-doodle"

And "Luna Lovebeard", who is a miniature Schnauzer puppy that keeps us amused all day (and part of the night)

Lovely photos of two really super looking dogs.

Time for a post here on this slightly moribund page I think:
