No Inverted systems, and the CS prop doesn't like no oil pressure..so its all Positive.

Hey Sam,
that's a very neat sequence, brilliantly flown. The Stearman is quite a difference from the 4, don't you think? I love your wave-pass, I think it's a very good idea to show courtesy to the audience like that. I also note you save the "easy" figures for the low portion, good call! Keep posting these nice videos, will you?

May the 4's be with you/ Jörgen

Hey Sam,

VERY nice flying!

It seems that you and Matthew have lots in common, starting young on Fourniers and graduating to Stearmans.

Sorry to be so late with my praise, but I've been waiting to get somewhere with broadband access to see your clip.
We only have slow dial-up in our village!

Keep up the great work showing other aerobatic pilots that smoothness, gentleness and sympathy for your airplane are they keys to energy conservation and a great display.

Yours, Bob

Hi Sam,

Bob is quite correct, I have many hundreds of hours flying those great lumbering beasts around Europe. Mainly with a girl strapped to a pole on the top wing ! a 450Hp P&W up front and four ailerons. I have never flown one with a shaky Jake on the front but I always considered the 9cyl Lycoming 300Hp with a CS unit and four ailerons is the cream but looking at what you milked out of yours maybe the shaky Jake is the answer. You have to work so hard with 2 ailerons well done, great display. I'd like to see some RF-4 footage taken from the ground of you one day.

Happy New Year

Matthew,
are you involved in team Breitling (this year, "UtterlyButterly" etc previous years), isn't #3 previously old "SE-BOG"? I have a couple of fond flights in that one. There is something Fournieristic about Stearman's!

May the 4's be with you/ Jörgen

Jörgen,
I was team leader for the team that is now Breitling in the days of "Crunchie" and a lot of part time work for "Utterly Butterly" flying the AN-2 and the Stearman. SE-BOG joined the team after I had gone to pastures new.

Yours in a 4 Matthew

Excellent flying, Sam!

Matthew, good call. I can certainly understand you don't want to have anything to do with this:

Thank you for the very kind words! I would like to see some footage from the ground in the RF as well. Hopefully soon, since my parents are talking about selling there RF4 now that our Pitts S1S is nearing completion.

Posted by Jorgen on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 @ 05:18 PM:

Sam,
I'm sorry to hear that your thinking of selling your nice RF 4. To quote Rowena herself: "Who would do such a thing?"

Pitts are rockets but like rockets they are equipped with fins rather than wings. Proper Aeroplanes have looong wings. You'll find Pittses nearly everywhere, not so with Fourniers (except in Finland).

Not that I'm biased in any way Sam, I'm certain you'll fly whatever you can get your hands on expertly and continue to have fun doing it.

And Rowena, I'll take your flak now

May the 4's be with you/ Jörgen
