--- wing fold hinge misalignment (https://sbeaver.com/cgi-bin/fournier/cutecast.pl?forum=11&thread=1216&page=)

Hi

I've been having trouble lately with inserting and locking the wing hinge pin on the port wing of my RF5B. The pin appears to be very slightly (0.5 mm) misaligned with the forward holes. The misalignment is more up-down than inboard-outboard, so adding a layer of tape to the spar end doesn't help. I don't see anything in the manual about adjusting this. I haven't hit anything with the wing, and I suspect it might have something to do with wood shrinkage since the plane left Washington state for the Mojave.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it?

Thanks,
Carl

Yes,I have had some issues but only in inboard and outboard direction. Aluminumtape has solved the issue. I have also had issues with the rear located Drag fitting. The outer rib has shrunk in Mojave and allowed the fitting to loosen and rotate ARGH!!! When I retightened these fittings they moved away from each other and caused rear pin alignment issues, so I re-shimmed these too.

Temperature has an effect on my machine, today at100 degrees F the pins mated nicely, They are a little harder to move in cold weather.

I do clean then mechanisms, pins and fittings periodically since the blowing dust in Mojave collects on the exposed greased parts when the wings are folded.
