Hi Guys,

When I dismantled my pedals from their hinges to move them forwards (see 'fitting inside'), I was surprised to see how much the hinge pin holes had worn into the floor-mounted brackets. All four were badly ovalised. That's in a 1,300-hour airplane (yes, mostly aerobatics for the past 300 hours).

Of course, the steel hinge pins themselves were not worn, but strangely, neither were the hinge components on the pedals, just the floor-mounted ones.

Replacing them was quick and easy, done by tracing the originals onto short lengths of high quality aluminum angle of similar thickness and then sawing, filing and drilling appropriately. Less than an afternoon's work.

It might be worth taking a look at yours next time the wing's off and/or the snail's out.

Yours, Bob
