Greetings:

Last month I brought N7725 back to Oregon and put it in my hanger.... my "other aircraft," a 1946 Cessna 140 was parked outside for a few weeks while I learned by trial and error how to get two airplanes in the hanger. No doubt it has been done before... but using using suggestions from other glider pilots and few engineers, we came up with a system that works (so far) and is very stable. It is still a work in progress but I think we have many of the major problems addressed. Needless to say, I was very concerned about safety and putting an aircraft above another is an experience.

It also means that I can see the bottom of the RF-4D and see that I will have to do some work on the fabric and paint. It has been a long time since this aircraft was give the TLC it needs. Thanks for the information on fabrics, repairs and paint. I have many areas of fabric/paint that needs attention. My goal this year is to make it safe to fly and worry about looks later. It is like a remodel project... once you start into it, it is difficult to know when to stop. Before long I would have it completely apart and I would not be able to fly it for a year or two.

Here is the album with images and captions.... on hanging the 4. If you have any suggestions or ideas... please let me know.

Hi Bob,

Your setup looks really stable, and looks like it could be lifted and lowered by one person.

I'm thinking about something similar. I was going to try the direct one-point hoist method. I noticed that the lift point seems to be right about at the spar attach bolt. I am hoping to add a couple of large hooks or eyelets under the bolts and lift it directly from there (with the canopy off). How unstable was it lifted at one point? Could another person steady it as it went up? And then tie up the heavy wing and stabilize the tail?

I have the wing stored on the winch now.

While N7724 was in Mira Slovak's care, he winched it over the Jungmann using one cable connected to the engine mount, and another to the tail lift handles. Once I finish un-packing, I will try to find he pictures I have.

Beware Guys,

A German bloke used to store his RF4 like this.

It recently fell on the floor and got sold as scrap after being written off.

I know no more, but that's another Fournier gone.

Yours, Bob
