Hi Guys:
Thought some may like to see the Dolly I made for moving and repairing the RF-5. It works great!! Basically it attaches to the large bulkhead hole for the controls and allows the aircraft to rotate from side to side. Seems plenty strong enough and the aircraft is stable in all positions. Since I seldom have assistance when working on the aircraft I have to make it easy to move and position. Getting it on the tilt trailer took a little time but everything worked out fine. I am going to read (again) everything on the Forum regarding fabric and getting the old cotton fabric off.

Here are a few pictures of the dolly and trip from the airport to my home.

More soon.

Thats a clever idea.

I'll have to remember that when it comes time for me to do the fuselage recover.

Looks like the paint did not stick well to paint job underneath.

Was your paint just peeling or do you have cracks down through the fabric as well?

What are you going to recover the fuselage with, once you get the old stuff off? Fiberglass, PolyFiber, Stits?

The most recent paint job was just plain bad... but there were also cracks. My plan is to cover the fuselage in fiberglass and the wings in PolyFiber as I think it might give the smoothest results and also allow for minor repairs. I am going to start another thread for fabric removal since I have some questions and have also had a number of recommendations... some of which are in conflict. I don't want to reinvent the wheel and there is so much expertise in the forum.
