Greetings-
Imagine my surprise when Mira Slovak emailed me with the answers to some of my RF-4 questions. And, the offer to help with more information on my RF-4 rebuild.
He is sending me some drawings and information from R. Fournier regarding extra fuel tanks that might be helpful for the South American dream flight. Mira has been to Bariloche (again one of the most beautiful places on Earth) and knows the demands of the flight.
Although I flew around Alaska in the 1970's (before Loran-D and GPS) with not much more than a map and ADF (which typically was not very helpful in bad weather), it is difficult to image flying the Atlantic in the RF-4 as Mira did.... given the equipment of the day, that feat will not be duplicated.
Mira reclaimed his RF-4D from the museum in Seattle and getting N-1700 back to flying status. Here is a link to Mira's flight(s) and his aircraft.

When I called Sam Korth about the RF4D I eventually bought, he said that Mira had already contacted him about buying his.
Fortunately for me Mira was working on getting his N-1700 back from the museum, but apparently they did not want to give
it back to him initially.
Good to hear he finally worked it out with them.
Sam told me that Mira was planing to fly the RF4D to France for the Fournier Anniversary event in 2010.
It could only be even more special by doing it in N-1700.
Amazing!!!, and a huge testament to the little motor glider that could, again and again, and the pilots that put so much confidence in the design, engine and flying characteristics!
You go Mira!

From the link in this thread I was looking through the clippings of Mira's adventures in the RF4 and
read a communication to Sportavia where he is talking about having
N-1700 rebuilt and that "Mr Dobry needs it for his nearly complete film of the
RF-4".
Does anyone know if this film of Mr Dobry from 1968 is out there somewhere?
It would shure be an interesting movie for us Fournierteers and a nice thing to
archive and make available to us.
After talking to Colin a few weeks ago, I hear that Mira is busy restoring N-1700 back to flight status.

Do you have Mr Dobry's contact info.
Perhaps we can find out what happened to that Film of Mira's RF4 and
get a copy of it made.
I imagine optimistically that we might be able to have a grand premier
showing of this film at the US Fournier flyin.
That would be some great icing on the cake!
