Sammy Mason (Fournier Sam's grandfather) was a most colorful aviation character with an airshow, instructing, and test piloting career that lasted from the 1930s to the 1990s and covered both fixed wing and rotary winged aircraft.

Sam was the first person to ever loop or roll a helicopter, flew with Tex Rankin, displayed a 450 Stearman, and (the most important accomplishment) flew one of the first Bucker Jungmann ever to come to the USA.

Sammy's autobiography "Faith and Flight" is available at Amazon.com now as a Kindle download for only US$1.99

As you might guess, the book chronicles Sammy's religious life, as well as his aviation career. I found the book to be a compelling read.

Thanks Steve,

I started reading it from the Amazon preview and got hooked, so I bought the Kindle download. I don't have a Kindle yet, but Amazon has a free Kindle reader for the Mac (and PC) so that will work for now. Oh, and the book is free for Amazon Prime members.

But isn't that something? Me Jr. a couple of years ago wearing his new body that his mummy bought him from a local store in Helsinki:

The airshow was on May 5th and the little man was born on May 6th. Sammy Jr. liked that one, too

I have that one checked out from the library right now. Also available in a Kindle version. The discussion of flat spins almost makes me afraid to ever spin a plane again.
