After much thought, measurements, and examining the original wing covering, I have decided to put the seam on the top and bottom of the spar (like the original).
The fabric is 72" wide. One 20' long piece can be cut in half and used on both front D-sections. Another 20' piece can be used on the top wing from the spar back, and the trim can be used on the other side. Same for the bottom. So the wing can be covered with 60' of fabric and no seam on the front.
Seaming on the front would have fewer seams, but would require 4-20' pieces of fabric since the trim pieces couldn't be used.
Anyway (I think) that's the plan. Starting to strip the wing now.
