The British authorities asked me to make a presentation explaining to other Display pilots what I learned from my engine failure while inverted at 800 feet during my display last year.

This is my twenty minute presentation…

Hi Bob,

Thank you very much for sharing this. Your comments on the whole event are extremely insightful and remind us that regular training for engine failures is of prime importance. I am ashamed to say that I never trained on my Colibri for engine failure exercises down to the landing and this is something I will correct next time I fly. Thanks for that!

I remember that in one of your past posts, you mentioned that you used a home-made air-filter (using the tip of a pantyhose), was that one unsatisfactory in the end?

Happy 2024 season flying to all other VW-propelled pilots !

Hello again Bryce,

Thank you for your kind comments.

I never did use that pantyhose air filter because I couldn't devise a secure way of holding it in place so that it wouldn't inadvertently get sucked into the carburettor and block it.

I now use conical K & N filters on both my Fourniers, as demonstrated in that video clip.

Yes, let us hope that we all have a wonderfully happy and memorable flying season this year.

Cheers, Bob
