Hi all, I'm looking for a set of replacement cables for my RF3 ailerons. The condition doesn't look too bad but seeing as though they are off the aircraft I've decided to look into replacing them. Does anyone know of a source in the UK or Europe where these can be bought? It looks like the cables are soldered into the end pieces. Here are so photographs of the end fittings:-

The cables are swaged not soldered. Aircraft Spruce offer a service whereby they fabricate custom cables to your specification (diameter, length, end fittings etc) https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/cableassy.php?clickkey=4047 including the type of end fitting used on your cables. You would need to determine the suitability of the fittings. (Metric vs imperial) Do ACS still have a location in the UK?

Hi Steve, thanks for the reply. LAS aero in the UK import from aircraft spruce and they have a variety of fittings which are similar but none which are metric. The threads on the turn buckles are M6 x 1.0 and none of the dimensions match the standard sizes I have found. I have found Bruntons in the UK (https://www.bruntons.co.uk/rotaryswaging) which swage custom aircraft cables and I am waiting for a quote from them. I may look into sizing up slightly to fittings to fit 5/32" cable and imperial fittings. The cable is 3.4 mm diameter so sits between 1/8 and 5/32".

If anyone needs replacement cables in the future I am having some made by Skycraft in the UK. The LAA have agreed that 1/8" cable can be used with 3/16" clevis pin fittings reamed out to 5mm so they are compatible with connections in the aircraft.
