If you tried to log in or just visit this forum as a guest in the last few days you may have noticed that it looked very odd with missing categories, duplicated threads etc. I finally tracked this down today. It was a configuration error at the hosting provider (Bluehost) that caused the server to run out of disk space. It took nearly an hour to convince them there was a problem, then only a couple of minutes to fix it. Typical!

After experiencing several more failures, Bluehost finally increased my storage to 50 GiB and this seems to have finally fixed the issues. I automatically email myself with a backup copy of the forum every few days so restoring it after failure i not that big a deal. Annoying though.

Thanks Steve, let us know if there is a way to help you with the running costs, the forum has helped me so much that I would be delighted to contribute.

Ah, I had wondered what had been happening.

Thank you for fixing it for us Steve and yes, I too would be delighted to contribute to the costs of running this magnificent resource.

This has been so frustrating. I increased storage from 20 GiB to 50 but still there have been failures on this forum due to file corruption. I finally caught it in the act of failing and found that although I was paying for 50 GiB, I was getting "No space on device" errors at only 18 GiB. Obviously the hosting provider was selling more disk space than they had. It took two weeks of calls and chats to finally convince them, but now I see that the amount of storage available has greatly increased and is showing 67% free. The forum seems to have been stable for the last ten days so perhaps we are out of the woods.

Unfortunately this particular forum software (Cutecast) is no longer supported. I have been able to fix a few issues that came up and add rudimentary photo support but in an ideal world it would be replaced by something newer. Unfortunately (again) this would be a tremendous amount of work. I have been able to largely reverse engineer the software so that I can extract all of the existing and useful posts, but importing that into a new system would be challenging. I may try it over the winter when the weather is too poor to fly.

Many thanks for all your work Steve.
I saw that vbulletin offers an import option for cutecast forums:

Would it be worth trying? I am no expert but let me know if I could help.

Happy holidays!
Brice

Thanks Brice. I have been searching for an importer like that for a long time! I will definitely check it out.
