Steve, you rascal. You'll have Bob stripping the Oratex off his wings again just to get the LEDs installed!
Is that a fabric covered wing, though? Looks like a glass ship so I assume the LED strips are just stuck on the surface. With the thinness of LED strips and with them all running chordwise they wouldn't be very disruptive of the airflow. I wonder what it does to the glide ratio.

Its an all composite 2005 SZD-59 "Acro". Notice that the lights on the wings are installed "chord-wise". I imagine they have a minimal effect on performance.

Thanks Steve that's a great clip.
My good buddy Guy Westgate does something very similar here.
Google GliderFX to see more.
Don't worry guys, I shan't be stripping my airplane again now. When I retired from British Airways I promised myself no more night flying :-))

I happen to know Johan and hes not only flying glider aerobatics but also he flies engine aerobatics as well.
Here is a clip of a night show with his and some others Giles 202.

He is pretty well known in the gliding community in Sweden since he was only 19 years old when he won the world gliding aerobatics championship advanced class in a pilatus B4
As far as i know though he is not competing in glider aerobatics this year since he will try to win the engine world aerobatics instead.
