While in Germany this summer I got to see one of my first Airplanes that I owned in the 70s , HB-USE which at the time nearly got me in trouble.

I had it in Germany in a Hangar at the Rottweil Airport. Unbeknownst to me every time I left, sometimes for months at a time, my Bestmann was pushed outside to make room for other Airplanes.

One Day when I took off I lost Elevator control. Luckily for me the trim was set just right and I got it back on the Ground unscathed.

What happened ? - The Cross-member which hols the cable pulleys just after the cockpit separated from the Fuselage skin because of standing water. The glue used at the time used was not holding up to moisture , let alone standing water.

I never took it back in the air and donated it to the Museum in Speyer/ Sinsheim where it is suspended from the Ceiling in the same condition
when I left it.

The Museum in Sinsheim is World-class with over 1 Million Visitors each year and the only place where you can climb inside both the Concorde and the UDSSR counterpart Tupolev Tu144.

Here are a couple of pictures of my former pride and joy:
