The weather forecast was for warm temperatures and clear skies but winds greater than 20 kts at ground level and exactly opposite to our direction of flight! Although at times the ground speed dropped as low as 58 knots (107 kph) at least we were able to find runways that faced into the wind and were able to land at barely more than walking pace.
The route shown above was flown to keep out of class B airspace, and to remain clear of the Blue ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. The Swiss would laugh at the idea of calling these mountains, but I still wouldn't want to have an engine fail while over them :)
By the time we reached Georgia, the winds had died down and the final leg of the trip was a joy, with the Tigre purring like a well fed Lion.
Ed Eldridge and family are now enjoying the Bucker every chance they get. How nice to see Amma Miller and John LaBarre's work being so enjoyed.
