Dark Blue World is set both during, and after WWII. The Czech movie (with English subtitles) chronicles the the lives of Czech airmen as they escape to England and take part in the battle of Britain, then afterwards as their heroism is punished by the communists who then controlled Czechoslovakia. - Having "escaped" from their home country, they are considered traitors.

It has some corny moments, but on the whole it is an enjoyable movie with enough historic and authentic flying footage (some of which are "out-takes" from the movie "Battle of Britain") for you, and enough romance for your spouse Smile

This still from the opening scenes of the film explains why I can discuss it here:

Spitfires, Hurricanes, several Junmann and a beautiful girl all in one movie. Gets my "thumbs up"
