Scribing the composite top cowling at the nosebowl and fuel tank fairing.

The cowl was made by using John LaBarre's spare cowling as a mold and applying two layers of glass cloth impregnated with West Systems epoxy. After it was cured, the cowling was removed from the mold, split in two and joined back together with a two inch extension in the middle. The magneto "beauty bumps" were removed, the cowl was sanded and smoothed and then a third layer of cloth was added.

Like most composite work, it looks pretty scabby now, but after some primer is applied and the metal reinforcing strips and rivets added, I hope it will not be easy to tell it from an original, metal cowling. At least it fits nicely!
