Many congratulations to Len Elmendorf on the first flight of his beautiful Jungmeister replica.

"Finally got semi clear skys. I got about 45 minutes on it this morning. The plane will be a joy as soon as I get some time on the engine. The worst thing with a new plane is a new engine that needs time at high power. This thing beats you to death at full throttle. I have a 76-60 inch prop on 200 hp. That gives something over 140 mph. I like a biplane about 90 or 100 mph. As our runway is very narrow I took it to Leeward and will base there for a while. Nice to have a couple of hangers avalible on a 250 by 6000 foot smooth grass runway. "

"Everything works good, rigging is perfect (love the digital levels) oil temp maybe a little low, about 180 is all I got in the air. I put a very big cooler with 2 ducts to it. Tracks streight on the runway both take off and landing. More pictures when we can get better photo crew and a photo plane. "

Looks like the photographer was almost as excited as Len Wink
