Winter/Spring Bücker meeting in Rangsdorf - 20/21/22nd March 2015 (Spring Break)

Dear Bücker enthusiasts,

At this year's Bücker fly-in at Albstadt Degerfeld, Rüdiger & Elizabeth Witt from the Bücker Museum in Rangsdorf and I had the idea to organize a winter meeting of the Bücker scene in Rangsdorf.

On Friday March 21 we will visit the Bücker Museum in Rangsdorf and go to the  Rangsdorf airfield to see the former Bücker factory.

We want to meet the people who are in charge of the site and the former Bücker factory to express our interest to preserve this historic site, and to express our hope for restoration of the place in the near future. We as an international group of Bücker owners are the “successors” of the inventor of Bücker aircraft and we want to express our interest in preserving the historic site in Rangsdorf. At this stage there is a risk that this historical place will disappear. Therefore we want to show up there including media presence to meet the owners of the land, the site and the historical monument.

It´s not only the Bücker factory that forms the historical dignity of this place, Graf Stauffenberg flew from Rangsdorf for his assassination attempt on Hitler's life and also on the same day returned there after the failed attempt. And last but not least Heinz Rühmann, the famous German actor and Bücker pilot, has learned to fly there and he flew various Bücker aircraft out of Rangsdorf.

The arrival of the participants is scheduled for Friday March 20. On Friday evening we can sit together and discuss about our winter works, projects, and exchange experience about our Bücker planes. Saturday we will visit the Rangsdorf airfiled, the Bücker museum and the Bücker factory. Saturday evening is open again for discussion and exchange. On Sunday, the return travel of the participants is planned.

I was now able to establish contact with Reinhard Mey, the German singer of “Über den Wolken”, the hymn of all biplane riders. He used to own and flew our Lycoming CASA D-EFMH that is stationed at Degerfeld since.

He is currently busy on tour and will not be able to come to our meeting. But, against all rumors, he is still interested in flying and I am allowed to send information about our activities to him. Since he works out of Berlin it would have been a great help if he would have joined us. I`m sure that some day he will catch up with us and give us his support for the continuation of Rangsdorf.

Ullrich Hunger will join us and continue to film more sections for our Bücker movie, more talented photographers will also come and document our meetings.

Please contact me as soon as possible and let me know if you will come to the meeting in Rangsdorf.

We look forward to seeing you and hope for good discussions, exchange of experiences and new impressions about the Bücker scene.

With best regards
Rüdiger & Elizabeth Witt
