I am fairly tall, the Jungmann is fairly short. I find I am pretty comfortable most of the time, but during aerobatics the slipstream tends to catch the top of my flying helmet and pull it backwards, particularly when inverted. Contributing to this problem is the fact that like most, my headphones have a fairly thick padded band over the top of the head which tends to catch the wind.

I found an advertisement for Pop's Leather. They make some very nice custom fit flying helmets at a reasonable price, so I thought I would would send them a drawing with some ideas for a lower profile helmet. Basically I wanted them to sew a leather pad into the top of the helmet so that I could remove the thick pad from my headphones, then provide a couple of loops to secure the steel headphone band.

They agreed to make the modified helmet at no extra cost and the result is shown below. I am so pleased with the fit and the quality.

Standard helmet on the left, custom low-profile design on the right. Total cost was US$70.
