In the 1970s Frank Price and the "Texas Bücker Boys" experimented with adding wooden strips to the underside of Jungmeister wings to make the airfoil a little more symetrical. The goal was to improve the inverted flight characteristics of the aircraft. The result was disappointing in that the the Jungmeister no longer snap rolled as well, and that after all is what the Jungmeister is known for!

The test aircraft was modified again this time with one set of stock wings, and one set of modified wings. It was found that this was a reasonable compromise and U-99 retained that configuration until a few days ago.

Brian Karli sent this picture of the modified wings from Tom Muller's U-99. Amazing what difference such a small change can make.
