As you may or may not know, Lowell White has sold his magneto shop. He suffers from macular degeneration and was just not able to continue doing work. He recommended I contact a friend of his in Florida, Ed Strain.
Ed has a shop in the Tampa area that specializes in overhauling brake systems from cars 1950 to 1965!! However, he also specializes in antique magnetos from late 1800's to WW1. I sent him one of my mags and he said it's modern day stuff compared to what he works on. All that said, he has studied my mag and with the support of Lowell with manuals and notes has completed an over haul on it.
He is willing and able to take on the magnetos now. He has identified a NAPA part for points that will work if needed. Also, should you need a new coil, his shop has the capability to re-wind them and seal. The "flat rate" cost of an overhaul is $300. If you need a coil redone, that is an added $175. That is cost to him. The $300 is a great price! You can't do that with a modern mag.
